* Create Specific and realistic goals
It is not any easy task to be consistent yet again it is possible. It is possible if you make specific goals and achieve them in little chunks. But first of all you need to explain what consistency means to you? either you want to be consistent in your gym habits or you want to achieve a quality work or you wanna be consistent in your relationship? So after identification you create smaller steps and start implementation. For example if you want to be a good at gym. Start giving 1 hour daily and do it for 5 days a week.
Do not set unrealistic goals. Always keep in mind to create realistic goals.
* Create Schedule for yourself
Keeping track of what you do is compulsory. Sometimes we forget things due to the lack discipline. So to be disciplinary in your actions, you pile up tasks and schedule them to complete these tasks one by one. Use a paper planner, physical desk or wall calendar and write down each important chunk. For large goals, do daily small steps. Don’t forget to take break during large work.
* Place reminders around your home, workspace and belongings
We make commitments, promises and plans each and every day. In order to remember and keep track of these reminders put them to a visible place like a wall. Write down things on paper and then paste them on wall, mirror or a drawer. You can also put notes on your study table. You can also set alarms on your mobile phone.
* Make promises only if you can keep them
As the headline reflects, make those commitments which can be easily achieved. Do not overwhelm yourself. Don’t make commitments you can not fulfil. Also adapt an ability to say “No” in a straightforward way. Do not get shy while saying this.
* Reward yourself when you get something
When you achieve a goal, you have done an awesome task. Now this is the time to give reward yourself for this achievement. Small goals should have small rewards. So, go and host a dinner for you or get an evening off and enjoy success.
* Keep going even if you make mistakes
“Failure is the sign that you are trying”. Even the most organized way can not work sometimes. If one appointment get canceled or your promise gets break. It doesn’t show your inconsistency. So, forget about it and start new plans. Improve yourself each and every day with a new energy.
* Take off time to recharge yourself
Consistency doesn’t mean you work all the day and all the night. Break is important to get yourself charge mentally and physically. If you keep working without break there is chance of burning out. Ensure to keep track of your schedule. Do not let your other commitments get in your way. Also find way to meditate yourself because meditation gives you peace of mind. Prayer is best way of meditation. Be honest with yourself too, spare a personal time and take bath, watch tv, enjoy with family and friends equally.
* Use motivational tools to keep going even when you don’t feel like it
Time comes when you feel stress or you get tired, this is the time you get detract from your goals. This can waste all of your struggle and results in disappointment. If you get lazy, this is the time to find something that motivates you.
* Hold yourself accountable
Accountability is responsibility. Check your progress on daily basis that are you doing work according to the standards or deviating ? Also try to find your accountability partner. He might be your friend, mentor, your family member or a coworker who can help you to achieve your consistency goals.
CHANGE YOUR THINKING
* Give yourself time to see changes
Whenever you try to bring new habits in your life, it takes a bit time. To be consistent on any habit can take up to 3 weeks. So be realistic and try things that can work for you.
* Set boundaries for your commitments and personal relationships
It is easier to set limits or boundaries in which you can work back and forth. For example: if you are spending time with your family then switch off mobile phone and even ignore calls, or put your phone away from yourself if you are attending family dinner.
Also apply markers around your work. For Example: you check or read your work for any mistake twice before sending/forwarding to your boss.
* Build your will power
You need willpower to be consistent and consistent can tend to lean you toward success even if you do not feel like it. Don’t lower your standards, always try to be on top of everything. Make sure to get proper sleep to get rid of exhaustion. Whenever demotivation prevails around you, keep in mind the benefits of what you do.
* Eliminate negative thinking
I can’t do it or I’m a stupid. Negative thinking can kill your consistency and willpower. Even if you are not great at things, start doing them by practicing different ways. Thing will work finally, so change your negative thought pattern into a positive one.
Don’t beat yourself up when you do fail to always be consistent. Remember! no one is perfect, but with practice you can become more consistent about the things that you do.
